Associate Theatre Manager

Southern Cross North Harbour Hospital represents a fast developing private healthcare campus on Auckland's North Shore. One of four Southern Cross wholly owned hospital sites in the Auckland region, the North Harbour campus includes the only private surgical in-patient hospital on the North Shore. 

Within our campus is the Northern Clinic which is home to a range of specialist consulting suites and treatment centres including endoscopy, cardiology services, cancer care, sports medicine and radiology. 

te Tūranga | About the Role 

We are looking for an Associate Theatre Manager to join our dynamic surgical team. This full-time role (Monday–Friday) is pivotal in providing clinical expertise and leadership to registered nurses within the perioperative department. Reporting to the Theatre Services Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of theatre services, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-focused care that aligns with Southern Cross Healthcare’s vision and values. 

You’ll work collaboratively across departments, manage resources and rosters, and lead a skilled team in a fast-paced environment. Success in this role requires resilience, adaptability, and strong communication skills, along with proven experience in leading teams. Your ability to mentor, coach, and foster a positive team culture will be key to driving clinical excellence and continuous improvement. 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience 

  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability in operational management within a perioperative environment. 
  • New Zealand Registered Nurse or Anaesthetic Technician with relevant clinical experience in scrub/circulating and/or PACU roles. 
  • Holds a current Annual Practicing Certificate with the appropriate New Zealand regulatory authority. 
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively across departments and build effective relationships with multidisciplinary teams. 
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and mentoring skills to support team development. 
  • Proven resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced surgical environment. 
  • Sound knowledge of clinical standards, patient safety, and quality improvement processes. 
  • PDRP Level 4 (Expert) or commitment to achieving this level.
