Opportunities exist in our surgical hospitals and support offices for theatre nurses, nurse educators, clinical and quality roles, ward nurses, anaesthetic technicians, sterile service specialists, health care assistants, and support functions from facilities management to digital services.

Training for nurses new to theatre

In a New Zealand first, Southern Cross Healthcare has launched Perioperative Training for nurses new to working in operating theatres. This programme covers admission, anaesthesia, surgery and recovery nursing which is delivered through sequenced AORN modules and videos. We also work with partners to offer fully simulated theatre and lab environments where nurses can practice the skills they learn before entering a theatre. This programme provides quality assurance and supports new to theatre nurses.

The Nurse Entry To Practice (NETP) programme enables nursing graduates to consolidate and enhance their academic and clinical learning in a private surgical setting. A standardised learning programme is delivered across our hospital network.
