Southern Cross North Harbour Hospital is the only private surgical in-patient hospital on the Auckland’s North Shore. North Harbour Hospital has 8 Operating Rooms, a 14 bed Post Anaesthetic Care Unit, a modern well-equipped day stay facility unit and a 70-bed ward which includes a 4-bed intermediate care facility (ICF). 

Surgical specialities include General Surgery, Gynaecology, Oral & Maxillofacial surgery, Urology, Orthopaedic surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, Urology, Otolaryngology and Robotic Surgery. In addition to the hospital, the broader North Shore campus is also home to a purpose-built endoscopy suite, on-site cardiology services, cancer care, pharmacy, sports medicine, radiology and more.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We’re seeking a dedicated Anaesthetic Technician to join our perioperative team, where your expertise will play a vital role in supporting our Anaesthetists and ensuring safe, seamless anaesthetic care across every stage of the patient journey. You’ll work at the heart of the operating theatre, delivering technically skilled and compassionate care within a culturally responsive environment. You’ll build trusted relationships with patients, whānau, and colleagues, while contributing to a positive, high-performing team culture. You will also contribute to hospital-wide initiatives focused on quality, safety, and best practice.

This is a permanent role, working rostered shifts, with 0.8 – 1.0 FTE. 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • A current NZ registration as an Anaesthetic Technician with a recognised qualification, OR you're a Registered Nurse with a practising certificate and anaesthetic credentials.
  • Up-to-date expertise in peri-operative anaesthetic technology, with the confidence to deliver safe, skilled care in a fast-paced surgical environment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a team-first mindset.
  • A positive, proactive approach and genuine commitment to exceptional patient care.
  • A proven track record of thriving in multidisciplinary teams, contributing to seamless, high-quality outcomes.
  • Ability to be flexible and work rostered shifts.
