Southern Cross Invercargill Hospital is the southernmost private surgical hospital in the Southern Cross network, it is widely known and used by people throughout the Southland and Queenstown-Wakatipu basin areas.
The hospital features advanced theatre systems, including robotic orthopaedic surgery. Our highly skilled and caring team provide excellent care to 4200 patients per year. Our elective surgical services include Breast; Endoscopy and Gastroenterology; General; Gynaecology; Ophthalmology; Oral and Maxillofacial; Orthopaedic; Ear Nose and Throat; and Urology surgery.
Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Theatre Nurse to join our high-performing perioperative team in a 0.6 FTE permanent position. Orthopaedic experience is desirable.

You will be an integral part of delivering high-quality elective procedures. As an experienced theatre nurse, you will confidently scrub and circulate across a wide range of lists, bringing clinical precision and strong situational awareness to every case. You will work collaboratively alongside skilled surgeons, anaesthetists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, innovative, evidence-based perioperative care.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
- A NZ Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate
- 2 - 3+ years of hands-on orthopaedic theatre experience is essential – you must be confident and competent in both scrubbing and circulating for orthopaedic procedures
- The ability to remain calm, focused, and highly organised in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships within a multidisciplinary team
- A proactive, adaptable mindset with a commitment to patient safety and high standards of clinical practice
- PDRP proficient or expert level (or working towards it), reflecting your commitment to ongoing professional development
