First Aider (Casual)
Southern Cross Wellness Partners
Southern Cross Wellness Partners was established in 2024 through the merger of Raise Mental Health (EAP and mental health services) and MedPro Healthcare (occupational health nursing). As a wholly owned subsidiary of Southern Cross Healthcare, our vision is to help people live their best lives by reimagining healthcare. Guided by our Reimagining 2033 Strategy, we’re shaping the next generation of healthcare in Aotearoa New Zealand—creating an integrated, connected ecosystem that supports patients, their whānau, specialists, and funders across the full continuum of care. As New Zealand’s largest non-government healthcare provider and one of its most trusted brands, we’re uniquely positioned to deliver healthcare like no other.
Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for First Aiders to join our team on a casual contract, supporting our workplace flu vaccination clinics. In this fast-paced, people-focused role, you’ll work alongside our nursing team to help deliver safe, seamless and professional clinics across a variety of workplace settings. From setting up equipment and welcoming participants, to guiding individuals through the vaccination process and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes — you’ll be a key part of creating a calm, organised and positive experience for every person who attends.
You’ll actively monitor individuals during the post-vaccination observation period (typically 5–15 minutes), ensuring they are well supported and never left alone during the required timeframe. Your role is vital in identifying and escalating any concerns promptly to the nurse, assisting in emergency situations when required (including contacting 111 if needed), and maintaining accurate data entry and documentation. Friendly, proactive and professional, you’ll also help troubleshoot minor onsite issues, support the effective use of clinic IT systems, and contribute to a well-run, high-quality vaccination environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team delivering an essential health service while making a real difference in workplace wellbeing.
This is a truly flexible casual position with no set hours—we work with your availability and scheduled work 2–4 weeks in advance, with occasional last-minute opportunities too. During flu season, shifts typically run 8–10 hours and include time for packing equipment, travelling to sites, delivering the service, and returning to unpack. We have multiple casual positions available in Whangarei, giving you the chance to work in a way that suits your lifestyle while contributing to the health of workplaces across New Zealand.
