Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We are looking for a Facilities Assistant to provide support to the Facilities Manager to ensure the smooth operation of our hospital including the maintenance, inspection and general upkeep of our boilers, generators, systems, chillers, pumps, medical gases, lighting, locks as well as minor painting and plastering. 

We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible so candidates must be located in and have work rights in New Zealand.

Areas you will be accountable for:

  • Completing tasks associated with the Hospital’s planned maintenance programme and asset management
  • Responding to servicing, repairing, breakdowns and reactive maintenance of equipment and plant in a timely manner
  • Ensuring our equipment and plant is operated and maintained in a compliant and safe order as to the manufacturer’s guidelines
  • Requisitions for maintenance servicing are completed within timeframes set
  • Plant items with service contracts have their work completed at appropriate intervals
  • Undertaking minor building repairs as required
  • Liaising with contractors in the absence of the Facilities Manager

  • Strong time management skills
  • Be well organised and able to prioritise work tasks
  • An effective communicator with a positive attitude
  • Great listening skills and able to take instruction well
  • A natural problem solver with great attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a strong team as well as autonomously
  • Available to be a rostered member of the on-call maintenance team – 1 in every 4 weeks
  • Experience in Engineering/Mechanical Trades 
  • School Certificate (or equivalent)
