Education Support Theatre SCHL Job Advert 

We are currently seeking an Education Support Registered Nurse to join our friendly team in our Theatres. We currently have the 0.6FTE position available. However, for the right candidate, we would be happy to discuss the addition of more hours in theatre itself. 

Our Theatres operate predominantly Monday to Friday. Current surgical specialties include Orthopedics (+ complex spine), General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, Ophthalmology, Vascular, and Neurosurgery.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and self -motivated individual, who will provide educational leadership, role model evidence-based practice and work with our nurses to meet quality and safety standards of care in the Operating Theatre environment. The Education Support Theatre role will work in the Education team, consisting of the Hospital Education Lead and Education Support Ward. The role also involves working in collaboration with our senior management team and medical specialists. 

  • Develop clinical staff professional practice to ensure the delivery of quality nursing care
  • Assess nursing staff competence and ensure adherence to best practice and professional, ethical and legal standards
  • Design and deliver clinical educational programmes to facilitate the on-going professional development and growth
  • Work alongside nursing directorate to facilitate and implement projects that promote the improvement of hospital nursing services

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Excellent clinical knowledge
  • Expert PDRP or working toward an expert level
  • 2 years proven work experience as an Educator or similar role 
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, interpersonal and leadership skills 
  • Postgraduate paper in health professional education is preferable but not required (working towards postgraduate papers desirable)
