Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

Southern Cross’ Wellington Hospital is seeking expressions of interest for an experienced Urology Surgery Clinical Nurse Lead to join our fun, dynamic and professional team. The Clinical Nurse Lead provides leadership to a team of theatre nurses and reports directly to the Theatre Services Manager. Southern Cross Hospital Wellington offers a wide range of surgical services and post-operative care to around 4,000 patients each year. Our surgical specialties include Urology, General Surgery (including upper GI & Bariatric), Gynaecology, Urology, Orthopaedics, Neuro, Vascular, Plastics and Ophthalmology. 

We currently have a full time Clinical Nurse Lead position available preferably with a range of Urology Surgery experience (Ideally, strong background in a range of specialties) in addition to experience of leading teams. This is a senior position and will suit an experienced team player who will inspire our team in their drive for excellence in the provision of quality surgical care here at Wellington. Ideally, you will be an amazing General Surgery theatre nurse with good interpersonal skills, able to maintain and create strong clinical relationships with our visiting surgeons and fellow healthcare professionals.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

· Registered Nurse with a current practicing certificate and scope of practice applicable to working in a surgical setting 

· A minimum of 5 years of post-registration theatre experience.  Ideally, with at least 2 of those being in Urology Surgery however, strong clinical theatre leadership experience in another related surgical specialty would be considered

· Post graduate qualification in clinical nursing practice or / working towards. 

· Have successfully completed a post-graduate clinical assessment paper or equivalent

· Knowledge of computer systems to an intermediate level

· Previous leadership experience would be desirable
