Southern Cross Hamilton Hospital is a well-equipped private surgical hospital based in central Hamilton, proudly providing a wide range of surgical specialties to the wider Waikato community for many years. 

Our hospital has been extensively expanded and upgraded and now incorporates seven fully equipped operating theatres, 60 inpatient beds, a Preadmission clinic, and a purpose-built Day Surgery Unit. It also boasts a high dependency care unit and access to onsite hi-tech radiology services, including CT and MRI. 

Comfortable facilities, combined with the very latest in technology and on-site support services, enable independent credentialled medical practitioners to undertake a wide range of procedures. These include routine investigations to complex surgery, with their expertise supported by caring, professional nursing teams.   

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

Seeking a seasoned Clinical Nurse Leader to oversee the efficient operational management and workflow of our Ward. Join our vibrant and dedicated team, where we deliver exceptional post-operative nursing care for various elective surgical services such as orthopaedic surgery, gynaecology, ophthalmology, urology, ENT, vascular, neurosurgery, and general surgery. This position offers a flexible workload ranging from 0.8 to 1.0 full-time equivalent (FTE).

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Registered Nurse with a current APC
  • Post graduate diploma qualification in nursing or a related field (desirable)
  • Recent 5 years of surgical nursing experience desired
  • Minimum of 2 years working as a level 4 Nurse 
  • Proven ability of being able to work co-operatively within in a multi-disciplinary team 
  • CORE Advanced
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • PDRP Level 3 (working towards Level 4)
  • Leadership attributes including performance coaching and being a change enabler
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to lead a team
  • To be flexible/adaptable and to respond positively to the changing needs of the business
