About the role

We are seeking an experienced National Technical Operations Manager to provide strategic direction and oversight within our Southern Cross Hospitals, to ensure they are designed, operated, and maintained with minimum disruption to our hospital networks functionality. 

This role will be responsible for reviewing and assisting in the design and commissioning of all building services projects and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

The National Technical Operations Manager will: 

  • Monitor global trends in building services and makes recommendations on new technology to be incorporated into hospitals
  • Monitor developments in regulatory compliance standards and ensures on going compliance of building services and equipment is achieved
  • Assist in annual budget setting across all aspects of the hospital portfolio
  • Provide strategic advice and coordination of design for major capex projects
  • Work with procurement to negotiate national contracts for building services to ensure the cost effectiveness of services provided to hospitals

To be successful you will need:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role
  • A tertiary degree in Engineering or other equivalent building services qualification
  • On site experience working with plant and equipment 
  • Strong reporting and governance experience
  • PC skills – Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc. 
  • Experience with the design of building services on construction projects 
  • Thorough knowledge of NZ Building Code and NZ Standards
  • A trade qualification in a building service would be desirable
