We have a unique and exciting opportunity for a Theatre Services Manager to join our Southern Cross Central Lakes Hospital in Queenstown.

This opportunity presents a rare mix of working in a new, vibrant, growing hospital, whilst living in one of the most stunning locations in New Zealand along with its incredible lifestyle.

Southern Cross Central Lakes Hospital (SCCLH) received its first patients in January 2022, and has steadily developed a broad range of specialty surgery covering both private and public patients. The joint venture ownership between Southern Cross Healthcare and Central Lakes Trust ensures leading clinical service delivery whilst maintaining a genuine focus to provide healthcare services closer to home for general population of Central Otago.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Theatre Services Manager to lead the hospital Theatre/PACU/SSD teams. This role will be a vital part  of the Senior Leadership Team and will actively support the General Manager to achieve the strategic goals of the hospital, building on our culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

This role will play a vital part in contributing to the next phase of growth and maturity at SCCLH and will suit someone who not only has an experienced theatre manager background, but who can also bring business acumen and significant relationship development in leading the theatre environment.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • A qualified and registered health professional
  • A minimum of 10 year’s post-registration/qualification experience in the surgical theatre setting
  • Previous experience and success in a Theatre Manager role
  • Familiarity and capability to ensure outstanding Quality processes and practice within the theatre environment
  • Demonstratable experience of working with the challenges of the theatre environment, and particularly capable  of leading a small but diverse team
  • Demonstrate experience in energising a team, empowering them to deliver both their own individual results, as well as that of the entire team
  • Develop and maintain an accountable, caring, safe, and highly performing culture across the team
  • A positive and energised mindset that is solution focused
  • Demonstrate experience and capability to increase theatre output and efficiency, with an ability to form meaningful relationships across the medical specialist group, assisting both them and SCCLH to continue growing the business within the theatre environment
