Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We’re looking for an inspiring and experienced Theatre Services Manager to join the Senior Leadership Team at Southern Cross Hamilton Hospital. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead our perioperative services, driving excellence in surgical care through strong clinical partnerships and a patient-centred approach. You’ll be responsible for ensuring our theatre operations run efficiently, effectively, and safely — all while fostering a culture of innovation, enthusiasm, and professional accountability.

As a natural leader and team player, you’ll motivate and support our talented clinical teams, helping them deliver outstanding care and work to the top of their scope. Your ability to build strong relationships with visiting specialists and healthcare professionals will be key to your success.

You’ll also play a strategic role in supporting the General Manager to achieve Southern Cross Healthcare’s goals, contributing to the hospital’s continued growth and leadership in the healthcare market.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Proven leadership experience (3+ years) in theatre operations, ideally within orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, or gynaecology.
  • Hands-on experience with robotic-assisted surgery is a plus.
  • A strong background in private healthcare is beneficial.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in nursing, management, or a related field.
  • Financial acumen, including budget management and operational oversight.
  • A collaborative leadership style with a knack for team development and conflict resolution.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional patient care and maintaining high safety standards.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and clinical excellence.
  • Confidence in engaging with Medical specialist and staff at all levels and maintaining professional standards
