Southern Cross Wellington Hospital is a modern private surgical facility with integrated specialist consulting services. It includes five operating theatres, day procedure units, advanced diagnostics, and an intensive care unit—enabling care for a wide range of patients, including those undergoing complex elective surgeries. The hospital offers a broad spectrum of clinical services, including Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, Colorectal surgery, Gynaecology, Neurophysiology, Ophthalmology, Oncology, and Urology. Established in 1992, the hospital has undergone significant upgrades and is currently expanding to increase surgical capacity and broaden its healthcare offerings in the Wellington region.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

Southern Cross Wellington Hospital is looking for a dedicated RN to join our team in a part-time role (0.4–0.8 FTE). This role involves working in an acute clinical setting where patients benefit from coordinated, multidisciplinary care. You'll be part of a small, supportive team that values collaboration, compassion, and clinical excellence. In this role you’ll use your clinical expertise and critical thinking to deliver safe, evidence-based care through holistic assessment, planning, and evaluation. You’ll maintain high standards of documentation, support enrolled nurses and healthcare assistants, and foster a culturally safe environment that promotes patient wellbeing. Strong communication and collaborative relationships with patients, families, colleagues, and medical specialists are key to achieving quality outcomes. Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Current New Zealand Registered Nurse practising certificate 
  • Previous experience working in an Acute setting, ED, PACU or ICU is preferred 
  • A collaborative spirit and proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team 
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude 
  • Previous experience in private healthcare is an advantage
