Clinical Nurse Lead – Peri-Anaesthesia (Perioperative)

Southern Cross North Harbour Hospital

Southern Cross North Harbour Hospital represents a fast-developing private healthcare campus on Auckland's North Shore. One of four Southern Cross wholly owned hospital sites in the Auckland region, the North Harbour campus includes the only private surgical in-patient hospital on the North Shore.

Within our campus is the Northern Clinic which is home to a range of specialist consulting suites and treatment centres including endoscopy, cardiology services, cancer care, sports medicine and radiology.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Peri-Anaesthesia Clinical Nurse Lead (CNL) to join our team in a 0.8 FTE leadership role. This is a pivotal position responsible for leading a team of nurses and healthcare assistants across Admissions, PACU, and Day Stay, ensuring seamless, high-quality care for patients undergoing or recovering from anaesthesia.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of the first dedicated Peri-Anaesthesia unit in New Zealand — a service that integrates care across the full perioperative journey, from pre-admission through to recovery and discharge.

As the CNL, you will provide expert clinical oversight, mentorship, and support to your team, while also playing a hands-on role in patient care. You’ll be instrumental in maintaining a safe, culturally responsive, and patient-focused environment, and will work closely with medical specialists and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure a smooth patient experience.

This role is ideal for a senior nurse with advanced clinical skills in high-dependency or peri-operative settings, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about leading with integrity, collaboration, and clinical excellence.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Extensive clinical experience – Minimum of 5 years post-registration in PACU, Day Stay, and Admissions (Pre-operative).
  • Proven leadership – Demonstrated ability to inspire, guide, and empower clinical teams with confidence and clarity.
  • Registered Nurse – Holds a current New Zealand practicing certificate with a surgical scope of practice
  • Tech-savvy – Comfortable navigating digital patient systems and quick to adapt to new tools and technologies.
  • A friendly, can-do attitude with a calm, professional presence that lifts the people around you
  • Collaborative team member – Works effectively within multidisciplinary teams, contributing reliably and respectfully to shared goals.

Ngā mea ka taea e mātou te tuku I a koe | What we can offer you:

  • Competitive Rewards: Attractive remuneration package, relocation allowance, and employee referral bonus scheme.
  • Health & Wellbeing: Funded health insurance, a comprehensive wellbeing programme, and generous Christmas/New Year breaks.
  • Flexibility & Growth: Flexible working arrangements and a Nursing Council of New Zealand-approved PDRP.
  • Perks & Community: Discounts from a range of partners and the opportunity to join our Employee Rainbow Network.
