Dr Sandhya Pillai

I am a New Zealand trained oncoplastic breast surgeon, a member of Breast Surgeons of Australia & New Zealand and a member of the New Zealand Association of General Surgeons.

I am passionate about surgical education and research. Over the course of my career, I have received awards for research (Nates Myers Prize) and general surgery (John McCall Prize). To complement my expertise in oncoplastic breast surgery I have also completed a Masters degree in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery from the University of Sydney, Australia.

At Middlemore Hospital I am involved in the assessment and treatment of breast & skin disease, acute/emergency general surgical conditions and imparting surgical training/education.

My sub-specialty training in oncoplastic breast surgery allows me to provide a greater range of surgical options for women with breast cancer.

In clinic, I focus on taking time to provide patients with information to help decipher the options available to them in an easy to comprehend manner so they can make informed decisions that suit their individual needs.
