Andrew has an interest in minimally invasive surgery of the colon and rectum, as well as gallbladder and hernia surgery. He also has an interest in benign colorectal diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and pelvic floor disorders. He also undertakes treatment of haemorrhoids at his private practice.
Professional Profile
Andrew Moot is a New Zealand trained general and colorectal surgeon. He completed his fellowship in general surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in 2005. His training in colorectal surgery continued for two more years at the Royal London Hospital and Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, England.
He is a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ).
He began consultant practice initially in the Hawkes Bay, establishing minimally invasive colorectal surgery for public patients in Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital and then privately at the Royston Hospital. Andrew and his family moved to the North Shore of Auckland in 2014 to take up a post at the Waitemata DHB as a general and colorectal surgeon. He is now available to see private patients at the Waitemata Specialist Centre.
Andrew served as President of the New Zealand Association of General Surgeons (NZAGS) from March 2016 until March 2018. As President of NZAGS, he represented General Surgery on the RACS NZ National Board, and he also represented NZAGS on the RACS Board in General Surgery which oversees specialist general surgical training. He represented NZAGS on the Endoscopy Guidance Group of New Zealand (EGGNZ), whose main role during that time was to advise the Ministry of Health on standards for colonoscopy screening.
