Professional Profile
As a trained general surgeon Jesse has a broad skill set, but his public, private and academic practice is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal diseases due to his sub-specialisation in this area. He is dedicated to providing timely, quality, patient-centered care.
Jesse completed his medical degree at the University of Otago (2008) before undertaking general surgical training. After attaining FRACS in general surgery (2017) he completed three years of sub-specialty training in colorectal surgery on the Australia and New Zealand Training Board in the Colon and Rectal Surgery (CSSANZ) programme. During this time he received the CSSANZ Phil Douglas Award for best paper by a colorectal fellow and was awarded a Master of Medical Science with Distinction for his research thesis on the management of rectal cancer. Jesse also gained experience in the treatment of peritoneal malignancy (including peritonectomy and HIPEC) at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide and exposure to pelvic exenteration surgery at the North Shore Hospital in Auckland.
At Waikato Hospital Jesse manages acute (emergency) general surgical conditions as well performing elective (planned) surgery. He lives in rural Waikato with his wife Andrea and 3 daughters.
