Mr. Jim Faherty earned a Bachelor of Science with Honours in chemistry from the University of Puget Sound. He earned his Medical Doctorate from The Medical College of Wisconsin where he was awarded the academic honour of being inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honour Society. His post-graduate specialty training was in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Oregon Health & Sciences University in Portland.
Mr. Faherty is a Fellow of both the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG).
Mr. Faherty is a Senior Medical Officer at Southland Hospital and also the Clinical Director of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Service, a role he has held since 2016. He also holds a faculty appointment as a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Otago.
Mr Faherty is passionate about the education and training of medical students, House Officers and Registrars. He's a member of multiple RANZCOG Committees directing the healthcare of women in New Zealand.
