Mr Mike Stitely is an American trained Obstetrician-Gynaecologist. He earned his Medical Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh and served as a Medical Officer in the United States Navy. He completed his specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. He served 16 years in the U.S. Navy, including 8 years of active-duty service, advancing to the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Mr. Stitely is an Associate Professor who has worked in academic medicine for over 20 years, most recently with the University of Otago in Dunedin, serving as Head of Department for Women’s and Children’s Health. Active in medical research, he has published 46 peer reviewed articles in various professional journals including the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Journal of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
He has developed a patented medical instrument to insert intrauterine contraceptive devices during the immediate postpartum timeframe. He continues to be active in medical research and is currently developing new surgical techniques and medical devices to treat urinary incontinence.
Mr. Stitely is a Fellow of both the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RNZCOG).
