Professional Profile
Prashant Sharma is a Consultant Colorectal amd General Surgeon and Senior Clinical Lecturer at University of Otago.
He obtained his Fellowship in General Surgery in 2012 in Christchurch, New Zealand. Follwing this he undertook subspeciality training in Colorectal Surgery though the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ). He did his fellowship at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide, South Australia, and at Western Hospital in Melbourne.
Prashant is a specialist Laparoscopic (Keyhole) Abdominal surgery and has a special interest in Trans-Anal Mimimally Invasive procedures (TAMIS). This includes an interest in performing Rectal Resection Transanally (TaTME - Trans-anal TME).
He also has an interest in Laparoscopic Hernia surgery, Anorectal conditions including Fistula, Abscesses, Haemorrhoids). He is currently engaged in a Masters Programme with research in Diverticular Disease and Diverticulitis.
