Star Story 5 – Mucking in
Our Star Stories celebrate the many ways our teams around the country have risen to the challenges of 2020.
During Lockdown levels 3 and 4, nurses at Southern Cross Brightside Hospital in Auckland extended their roles to support their catering, housekeeping and healthcare assistant colleagues.
As well as continuing with urgent surgeries during this time, nurses at Brightside broadened their duties to support meal preparation and delivery, housekeeping, as well as continuing patient care. This ‘all hands to the pump’ approach allowed many staff at the facility to stay at home in line with the Ministry of Health directive: if you can stay at home, do.
That’s what you call team spirit!
