A leader in the field of fertility and gynaecology, Andrew is known for his extensive fertility knowledge and caring approach.
Andrew has a special interest in the role of surgery in fertility treatment including advanced laparoscopy and operative hysteroscopy. He is also trained in tubal microsurgery and performs reversal of sterilizations and vasectomies. Andrew’s surgical skills are not only confined to fertility, he also sees patients with endometriosis, pelvic pain, and heavy menstrual bleeding.
Andrew has a strong commitment to bringing world leading technology to his patients and has piloted several initiatives including the introduction of outpatient hysteroscopy, time lapse photography for embryo selection, and pre-implantation genetic screening.
He has played an active role in the governance of fertility and gynaecology practice, serving two terms on the RANZCOG NZ Committee, and more recently two terms on the board of the Fertility Society of Australia. Andrew runs his private gynaecology practice from our Wellington clinic, where he sees gynaecology and infertility patients.
Andrew is a regular media spokesperson on all fertility related issues and writes a regular conception/fertility article in Oh Baby magazine, and was a key participant in the successful TVNZ documentary Inconceivable. https://www.tvnz.co.nz/shows/inconceivable.
Andrew is a Fellow of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, having originally trained in New Zealand he completed a two-year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Monash IVF, Melbourne, Australia. Andrew has a strong commitment to medical education and is a Senior Lecturer at Wellington School of Medicine, University of Otago teaching undergraduate students reproductive medicine and gynaecology. Andrew has also recently completed an MBA. In his spare time, he enjoys hitting the mountain bike tracks and enjoying time with his family, including 3 sons
