Southern Cross Hospital Rotorua is a modern surgical hospital serving the local community and the greater Bay of Plenty region. The hospital is characterised by a friendly, professional surgical nursing team, and offers credentialled medical practitioners and their patients access to superb facilities. These include three advanced theatres, modern theatre sterilisation systems unit, 22 inpatient beds in comfortable, well-equipped rooms, and a purpose-built day stay facilities. Surgical specialities include orthopaedic and General surgery, Urology, Otolaryngology, Minor Plastic Surgery, Gastroenterology, and Gynaecological surgery. The broader Rotorua campus is shared by a cardiologist, Canopy Cancer Care and TBI.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

As our Supply Chain Coordinator, you’ll play a critical behind-the-scenes role in keeping the hospital running smoothly. From receiving and storing stock to managing inventory and master data, you’ll ensure the right products are available, in the right place, at the right time. You’ll work across the full onsite supply chain process, supporting patient care through accurate, timely, and well-managed inventory — all while contributing to strong performance measures and a culture of continuous improvement.

You’ll bring a sharp eye for detail and a proactive mindset, working closely with the Supply Chain Manager and wider hospital teams to resolve issues, prevent stock shortages, and improve efficiency. Whether it’s maintaining high housekeeping standards, completing stock counts, supporting colleagues with inventory queries, or identifying smarter ways to reduce cost and waste, you’ll be someone who speaks up, takes ownership, and helps the team succeed together.

This is a full-time (1 FTE) permanent position based in our Rotorua Hospital.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in an inventory, supply chain, or warehousing environment, where accuracy and pace really matter
  • Hands-on experience using ERP systems to manage inventory, replenishment, and data with confidence
  • Strong inventory control expertise — healthcare experience is a bonus, but not essential
  • A sharp eye for detail, combined with the ability to see the bigger picture
  • Thrive on problem-solving and getting to the bottom of inventory variances
  • A practical, roll-up-your-sleeves mindset — you’re happy to jump in and get the work done I
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, with the ability to work comfortably with data and reporting
  • The confidence and capability to act as a 2IC, supporting the Supply Chain Manager when required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships in a fast-paced environment
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys working hard, having fun, and supporting others to succeed
  • A recognised qualification in Supply Chain, Inventory Management, Logistics, or a related Inventory control discipline is desired but not essential.
  • APICS certification or similar professional accreditation would be an advantage
