Waitemata Endoscopy

Waitemata Endoscopy was formed as a joint venture partnership with Southern Cross Healthcare, and is based in a modern endoscopy suite within the hospital. A leading group of surgeons and gastroenterologists work together to provide diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy, accepting direct GP referrals, either to the group, or to an individual practitioner. Patients can access a wide range of services backed up by the resources of a fully equipped hospital, with full confidence in the safety and depth of capability involved.

The team brings together experienced colorectal and upper gastrointestinal laparoscopic surgeons and physicians, including Michael Booth, Stephen Burmeister, Mike Hulme-Moir, Dr Ali Jafer, John Jarvis, Eva Juhasz, John Perry and Russell Walmsley. This experienced team of brings a combination of clinical knowledge and advanced international training to the centre. All are committed to the North Shore/Waitakere region, also running clinics in West Auckland and Rodney.

Cardiology services

Amongst a wide range of specialist service providers based on the North Harbour campus is specialist cardiology group, Auckland Heart Group, whose resources add to the services available to credentialled practitioners and their patients on the North Shore. Auckland Heart Group’s outpatient clinics are based at a facility at Northern Clinic, and the cardiology services complement the range of other medical specialties already available on the site.

Cardiology services include cardiology assessments (both outpatient and inpatient), exercise treadmill testing, electrocardiograms, Holter, event and blood pressure monitoring, echocardiography (including stress echoes) and vascular ultrasound (renal, carotid, abdominal aorta).

Axis Sports Medicine Specialists

The Axis team on the North Harbour campus is based in the Northern Clinic and specialises in sports injuries, rehabilitation and medical care for professional and recreational athletes, sports people, dancers and weekend warriors.

Axis’ Sports Physicians are dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries and musculoskeletal problems. The skilled specialists have worked with national teams, sporting institutes, and are approved consultants to High Performance Sport New Zealand.

The team treats many elite athletes, also using that experience and expertise for the benefit of all its patients. At Axis, the goal of the skilled physicians is to ensure that, after any illness or injury, they assist their patients not only to recover - and to be the athletes ‘they used to be’ - but to move forward in even better shape.

The team of sports & exercise physicians include Dr Brendan O’Neill, Dr Craig Panther, Dr Mark Fulcher and Dr Dan Exeter.
