Southern Cross Brightside Hospital is a modern private surgical hospital located in central Auckland. Originally established on its Auckland site in Epsom in the 1940s, Southern Cross Brightside Hospital was completely rebuilt to modern, high-tech specifications and re-opened in 2000. Brightside Hospital offers a wide range of surgical services and post-operative care to around 4,500 patients each year. This four-theatre hospital provides 43 in-patient beds and 6 day stay chairs, and has a staff of nearly 100.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate and professional Registered Nurse to join our team in a full-time, Monday to Friday role. This position offers the opportunity to work across a range of surgical specialties, including Orthopedics, Urology, Gynaecology, and General Surgery, in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.

You’ll be responsible for delivering safe, high-quality, and culturally responsive care to patients and their families. The role involves supporting medical specialists during clinics and coordinating patient care across multiple specialties. It’s well-suited to someone who is organised, adaptable, and confident in a clinical setting.

Reporting to the Patient Services Manager, you’ll work within a collaborative team committed to excellence in care. Your ability to build therapeutic relationships, communicate effectively, and uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) will be key to your success.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Current New Zealand Registered Nurse practising certificate 
  • Minimum of three years’ clinical experience, ideally within surgical outpatient settings such as Orthopedics, Urology, Gynaecology, or General Surgery 
  • Ability to work flexibly across multiple specialties and adapt to changing clinic needs
  • Strong clinical assessment and coordination skills, including managing patient lists and supporting consultations
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude 
  • Previous experience in private healthcare is an advantage
