Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and professional Registered Nurse to join our High Dependency Unit (HDU) team in a 0.9 FTE fixed-term role for 12 months. This is a dynamic position in a high-acuity environment, offering the opportunity to provide specialised care and work closely with medical specialists in a patient-focused setting.
Reporting to the Patient Services Manager, you’ll play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality care to patients requiring close monitoring and complex interventions. The role involves comprehensive clinical responsibilities, including patient assessment, medication administration, and responding promptly to changes in condition. It requires someone who is organised, adaptable, and confident working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team committed to excellence and culturally sensitive care. Your ability to build therapeutic relationships, communicate effectively, and maintain resilience under pressure will be essential.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
- Current New Zealand Registered Nurse practising certificate
- Minimum of two years’ clinical experience in HDU/ICU
- Ability to work flexibly across multiple specialties and adapt to changing clinic needs
- Strong clinical assessment and coordination skills, including managing patient lists and supporting consultations
- Excellent communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude
- Previous experience in private healthcare is an advantage
