Southern Cross Wellington Surgical Centre is dedicated to providing the best in contemporary orthopaedic care. Our orthopaedic services include a range of day-stay procedures, including knee, foot, ankle, shoulder, hand and arm surgeries.
As a joint venture between the region’s leading orthopaedic specialists and Southern Cross Healthcare, we are committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
We are located adjacent to Southern Cross Wellington Hospital. Our purpose-built centre is located on the top floor of 88 Hanson Street, and includes two operating theatres, a five-bed Post Anaesthetic Care Unit, and a five-chair day-stay lounge. We are co-located with Specialist Consulting Rooms and Affinity Medical Imaging. Our facility is designed to enhance the patient experience and provide seamless, efficient care.

Getting home
To ensure your safety and avoid surgery cancellation, please arrange for a relative or friend to take you home. New Zealand law prohibits driving after anaesthesia or while taking medications that impair your ability to drive.

Short term parking
Short term drop-off and pick-up parking is available at Southern Cross Wellington Campus via Entrance D. You’ll find 30-minute Southern Cross Wellington Surgical Centre parking spaces on the ground level, opposite the carpark entrance.

Refreshments
After your procedure, light refreshments and a selection of drinks will be available. If you have any food allergies or special dietary requirements, please let our staff know in your Patient Admission Forms and upon admission.

Support
Whānau or a friend is welcome to be with you during admission, and we recommend your support person also hears your discharge instructions. If you live alone, please arrange for someone to stay with you for at least 24 hours after surgery.
