Sterile Services Advisor - 12 month fixed-term

Are you an experienced Sterile Services technician with leadership experience looking to step into a national role? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our passionate Southern Cross Healthcare National Support team as the Sterile Services Advisor.  While our National Support Office is in Auckland consideration will be given to candidates based elsewhere in the country where we have Southern Cross Hospitals. 

This is appointment is for 12 months fixed term. 

te Tūranga | About the Role 

Established eight years ago, this role offers an opportunity to build on our existing strong foundations to further evolve and mature our dedicated sterile service teams and system.  As the new appointee, you'll lead, guide, and support our Sterile Services Team leaders/managers and technicians to mitigate patient risks from inadequate cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization processes. Reporting to the Head of Infection Prevention and Control, this full-time role entails some travel across our network for enhanced visibility. Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience 

  • A certificate in Sterilising Technology Level 4 and willing to work towards NZ Diploma in Sterilising Technology (Level 5) 
  • a minimum of 5 years in a practical SSD technician role (and at least two of these in a leadership role) 
  • a proven ability to guide and support others 
  • excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • competent computer skills 
  • working knowledge of the monitoring and validation requirements of a sterile services department 
  • conflict resolution skills 
  • An understanding of private surgical hospital businesses would be an advantage
